EMS Billing Questions

FAQ:

How will I be billed?

Medical insurance or Medicare (when applicable) will be billed directly, by the Township’s billing provider (Life Force Management) when a patient is transported to a medical facility.

Will I receive a bill?

No. Life Force accepts the payment received by private or governmental health insurance and no additional out of pocket expense should be incurred.  A patient may receive correspondence from Life Force when additional insurance information is required.

How is the transport fee established?

The Township follows the usual and customary rates established by Medicare for our area.

If I do not have insurance, will my level of care be affected?

No. A patients’ level of care or priority of treatment is unaffected by the patient’s medical insurance or lack thereof.

Will I receive a bill if I do not have insurance?

No. If an individual does not have insurance coverage, that individual will have paperwork to complete to acknowledge that they did not have insurance at the time of transport, the fee will be waived and correspondence discontinued.

Will this fee raise the cost of my insurance?

No. The Ohio Revised Code requires insurance companies to provide provisions in their policy coverage for ambulance transports. Medicare and Medicaid also have required provisions for ambulance transportation fees.
